This is the name of the hapless ghost from the animated series of the late 80's: "Ghostbusters.

Types of Slimes

Now in any store of goods for children you can find a huge number of slimes. They have different colors, consistency, and can be transparent, glossy or matte. You can also make your own slime at home.

The slime has two main components: the base and thickener. The other components you choose for yourself, depending on the desired result.

Slimes are made from glue or other components. The thickener is usually sodium tetraborate. If you run out of borax not only at home but also at the nearest drugstore and you are not going to make a transparent slime, you can use Teymurov paste diluted with a little warm water as a thickener.

For making homemade slime prepare a plastic container and a spatula for stirring. You have to stir the slime very carefully in the process of preparation, when the mass starts to come off the sides of the container, continue to stir it with your hands. The ratio of thickener to base is usually 1:10.

To decorate your work, in addition to dyes, you can add shadows, sequins, beads, and colored Styrofoam balls. This will decorate the appearance of toys and give them originality.

Slime is ready.

You can replace the PVA glue with pencil glue to create the Slime. In this case, you need to melt the glue stick in the microwave for a few seconds before you start mixing the ingredients.

Method #2: From glue and shaving foam

Pour the glue into a container and gradually add small portions of shaving foam to it. When the mass thickens and becomes elastic, continue to knead it with your hands.

Method #3: Using glue and laundry gel

Pour the glue into a mixing container. Pierce 2-3 capsules of laundry gel, and add their contents to the glue. Stir and knead the lick.

Method #4: Marble Slime

To create a Slime that has a marbled color, divide the finished white slime into pieces. Add to one or more of the parts the colorants of your choice. Next, take a wide flat container, put the colored parts of the slime stretched into a cobweb at the bottom of it. Put a layer of white on top of them. Allow to stand.

Method #5: Transparent Slime

When making this type of Lizard, replace the PVA glue with stationery glue. You can add a little hand cream or baby skincare oil to make it elastic. Use sodium tetraborate as a thickener.

Alternative ways to make lick without using glue

Method #1: Slime from liquid soap or shampoo with added salt

Pour shampoo or liquid soap in a prepared container. Their quantity depends on the size of the future lick. Add salt in small pinches to the liquid base until the desired consistency is obtained. Knead thoroughly.

You can also add toothpaste to the shampoo or soap.

Method #2: Using dishwashing detergent and adding baking soda

Despite the fact that manufacturers assure that their dishwashing detergents are absolutely safe, if ingested, they can have a toxic effect. Therefore, control the child's play with such a lick.

Add a small amount of baking soda to the dishwashing detergent and stir it. If the mixture is too thick, add to it a little water at room temperature. Again, stir thoroughly.

When the desired consistency is not achieved, you need to figure out what exactly is missing: the base or the thickener.

If the consistency is too thin, add more thickener, if the batter for the lick is too hard and inelastic, add water and knead well.

Taking Care of a Slime

The main tip for taking care of the slime is to treat the toy with care. Make sure it does not get dirty and foreign objects do not stick to it.

Keep the lizard in a jar with a tightly closed lid. For the slime not to dry out and not to crack, pour a small amount of water into the jar (it should barely cover the bottom). If the slime starts to lose its consistency and becomes more liquid, add to it some common table salt.

In case you have the slightest suspicion that the slime is bad: it has moldy or smelly, the toy tears easily or leaves traces on your hands, put it in the trash and start making a new one.

Making a slime at home leaves a lot of room for imagination. Experiment with your child, try new ingredients and decorations. And no matter what the result, you'll have fun and enjoy your free time.
