Cardboard theater

An ordinary cardboard shoe box will become magical if it is decorated with fabric, fastened as a curtain, and a picture on the back according to the plot of the fairy tale is placed. You can make the decorations yourself: print or draw a chair, a chair, a table, a magic castle or a hut.

Cut a hole in the bottom of the box, fasten the string on the side walls. Such a theater can be hung around the neck, then it will be very convenient to show scenes of figures attached to wooden skewers.

Characters are simply cut out of paper, and the process of making it is already action improvised theater. A child can try his or her hand at being a costumer and artist, choosing characters and decorations or directing by changing the plot at will.

Make little characters that will wear on their fingers. This is a very fun activity for a child.

Shadow Theater. How easy and quick to make

Step 1: Prepare the stage.

We take a medium sized box. Preferably 10-15 cm wide, but a box of another width will do. You will need a ruler, a pencil, a stapler and scissors. Separate the box from one long side. Should get a large rectangle, which has a flat plane without folds. On this side, measure out 5 cm from the edge. Draw the frame of the screen and cut it out. Staple the corners to form an L-shaped structure with a future vertical screen. Cut off the excess.

Measure the paper that will cover the screen with an allowance for gluing. You can fasten the top of the screen with a stapler. The other sides with paper glue.

Step 2: Create Characters

You will need a pencil, cardboard, scissors, stapler, and drink straws. Draw the characters and cut them out. In addition to action characters, you can make sun and clouds, birds and trees, houses and castles. Using a stapler, attach the figures to the straw.

Step 3: Play the play

Learn the tale, set a table lamp behind the screen, and play the tale. Do not forget the sound effects.

Puppet theater with your own hands

To create a theater, you will need a box with sides up to 10 cm high. Suitable box from the cookies. Glue the box with colored paper using double-sided tape.

Proceed to make the curtain. The width of the curtain can be from 3 to 5 cm, the length according to the size of the box. On a sheet of red velvet paper we measure the width of the curtain 2 times and cut off a strip. Then fold in half, draw the outline of the drapes and cut. The finished piece is cut along the central fold. Draw the folds imitating the drapery of the curtain with a felt-tip pen. Glue the curtain on the edges of the box.

Then we make a lambrequin. Measure 2 cm in width, draw the outline and cut. Length lambrequin measure the box. Cut out, draw the drapery, glue over the curtain.

Using a stationery knife, make a slot on the side of the box up to 1 cm wide, through which the decorations will change.

The backgrounds for the decorations can be printed out or drawn by hand. The size of the pictures should match the inside size of the box. If the backgrounds are stacked in the course of a fairy tale or a play, changing them will create the impression of real theatrical action.

To make the characters, you will need juice tubes, double-sided tape and printed images of the characters. We fix the cut out figures on the straws. Everything is ready! You can start the show.

Puppets for home theater

Doll made of felt

Need

• Sketch a toy puppet.
• Two sheets of felt A4 size.
• Small pieces of colored felt.
• String and needle.
• Glue gun.
• A sheet of thin cardboard.

The work starts with the creation of a pattern. For this sketch is redrawn on a sheet of cardboard and cut out. You will get the main pattern of the figure and separate small parts: eyes, muzzle, hands, tummy, ears. The number of parts depends on the choice of sketch doll character.

Then all of the details are transferred to the felt. Color scheme to choose according to your taste or the content of the tale. The hare can be white, gray or pink, and the fox yellow or orange. If you are making a craft with a child, let him choose what color the characters in your play will be.

Cut out the parts and make a preliminary assembly of the toy, attaching all the parts to the places where they should be. If you are satisfied with the result, we start the final assembly. First we make one main detail out of felt. Sew on all the parts that can be sewn. Sew with a stitch. Glue small parts with a glue gun. Assemble all the parts together according to the sketch.

If the toy has ears, attach them last. To do this, fold the two main parts face side inward. Attach the ears so that the edges of the parts coincide with the edges of the other parts, and the tips of the ears look inside. Sew all the parts on the edge of the buttonhole stitch, turn out the toy. The glove puppet is ready, and the ears will stick out amusingly on the top.

Sock puppet

Original puppets are obtained from ordinary children's socks.

For making will need a sock, cardboard, a small skein of thick thread or yarn, pieces of fabric for the mouth, sewing thread and buttons, glue gun.
Sock can take a solid color or patterned, polka dots or stripes - all this will create a future image of the toy.

Make a blank of cardboard for the mouth. To do this cardboard rectangle width of 7 cm, length 20 cm fold in half. Round the corners to the width. From the fabric for the inside of the mouth cut blanks on this template.

Cut the toe of the sock. At the end of the workpiece trim the edges. Glue a piece of cardboard inside the sock with a glue gun. At the same time we bend the edges of the fabric on the cardboard. Glue the inside of the fabric on top.

Make hair for the puppet. Take thread or yarn and wind a few times around the hand. Tie in the middle and cut the ends. If the fingers spread wide, you get a hairstyle with long hair. Sew hairstyle to sock.

Make eyes. Take two buttons, and sew them to the sock, laying one on top of the other. You can use ready-made eyes or drawn and cut out of cardboard. You can supplement the image with any details, make eyes from cotton lumps or add decorative elements.

Non-traditional kinds of theater

In addition to the usual materials for puppet theaters, you can use alternative types.

These can be plastic and wooden spoons. On them they draw or attach images of characters. When painting on plastic, acrylic paint should be used. If you have to paint with gouache, mix it with a little PVA glue.

Interesting variations are made of yogurt cans and plastic bottles. They are glued with colored paper, attached images of characters and added fragments of decorations. Volumetric mini-scenes are obtained. Such figures do not require additional decorations and develop imagination of children.

Playing theater is a useful and interesting activity. It improves memory, develops oratorical skills. The child learns to retell the text, to highlight the main point, not to be afraid of public speaking, and parents have an opportunity to discern the child's talents.
