Types of applique - features of work, selection of materials, photo ideas and examples

Preschoolers like to spend time playing games and creative activities that help develop their imagination. To consolidate practical skills in the form of a game will help different types of applique, in which you can use certain templates and all kinds of ideas.

The best material for such crafts remains colored paper, easy to handle, which can be glued and sewn to the base. It is not uncommon to use other materials for creativity, such as fabric and woolen threads, ordinary napkins and crepe paper, and satin ribbons.

Paper applique and techniques used

Colored paper, most often used in children's crafts can be one-sided and two-sided and the choice of its type depends on what idea a child likes:

  • flat and volumetric applications;
  • geometric and object applications;
  • tear-off and plastic applications.

There are many different techniques to help at home to create beautiful and unusual crafts in the technique of applique.

Flat applique

To create such a handicraft, you will need one sheet of base and cut out details or elements that make up a certain composition. Represent these applications can depict any artistic plot, for the implementation will suit the ideas of a forest glade, the seashore or a vase of fruit. For the little ones, you can choose ideas for applications with figures of animals and trees, flowers and objects familiar to the baby (car and house, strawberries and butterflies).

Volumetric crafts

The finished image on three-dimensional applications looks three-dimensional, which is possible thanks to the fact that the figures are not completely glued down. The individual elements of the composition are glued partially, and the unglued parts are bent and projected over the surface of the foundation, creating the desired effect. Such applications can depict a flowering tree, a beautiful mushroom with a leaf, a cute hedgehog with fluffy prickles, a unicorn or a dinosaur surrounded by grass.

Geometric applications

The main parts of the composition of geometric applications are geometric shapes of regular shapes. Paper material of a certain color is cut in advance into triangles and squares, circles and ovals, of which the overall picture is gathered. Such creative activities help you learn colors and shapes, and you can create an elephant and a mouse, an airplane and an applique depicting fruit, a street or traffic light, a boat on water.

Tear-off crafts

Another type of visual creativity is tear-off applique, created from individual pieces of colored paper. Such elements are not cut out, and neatly torn from the general sheet, they are filled in the elements of the template, pre-coated with a thin layer of glue. Often these crafts are quite complicated and their production is a lot of fun for children, in this technique can create an image of a colorful rainbow or winter forest, decorate a butterfly.

Plastic applications

Work with colored paper can be done without using scissors, for example, by twisting and rolling balls. In addition to balls, you can create different figures from crumpled paper, giving them all sorts of shapes, and then the blanks are glued to the paper base. Children's crafts in this technique is not particularly elegant, but it helps to develop fine motor skills, and the workpiece will appear three-dimensional snowmen and flowers, fruits and berries.

Types of applique created with your own hands

In addition to the use of different techniques, applique as a form of creativity can be divided into several categories:

  • subject, most often these are silhouettes of animals or fruits, birds and plants, familiar to the child himself;
  • subject, in which case the picture is collected from several elements united by a single storyline;
  • decorative, used as decorations for cards and greeting cards, separate surfaces.

Often children and their parents are able to create combined applications, which differ in the content of several elements of the composition.

Working with other materials in the technique of applique

If colored paper is used for simple applique, more complex and original compositions can be created with the use of non-traditional materials:

  1. Multicolored napkins. Soft and pliable napkins are suitable for creating volumetric applications of balls or mosaics, for which the technique of applique or facing is used;
  2. felt and fabric. Subject applications of these materials are created in the technique of combining, helping to create geometric compositions (owl and mouse with cheese, a pot of flowers);
  3. Cereal and beads. Unique crafts help to develop children's creativity, with the help of groats, seeds or beads create three-dimensional applications with different themes in the technique of powdering or pressing;
  4. Plasticine. A great way to introduce a child to plasticine is to create applications by stretching the material, mosaics from individual pieces of pre-prepared and drawn templates;
  5. Wool yarn. Multicolored yarn is actively used to fill the individual elements of the workpiece, drawn on cardboard and covered with glue, the finished work looks bright and attractive;
  6. Natural materials. Replace the paper will help natural materials collected with your child, from autumn leaves, cones and seeds, dried flowers and seashells will turn out an exclusive handicraft.

Children's crafts made in the technique of applique with all kinds of materials stimulates the development of imagination and creative skills. Having mastered the simple techniques of paper, the child will not be difficult to move on to work with textured materials to create complex crafts.
